We're offering a wide range of oriental rugs, antique rugs and carpets, modern and contemporary carpets, and also antique tapestries, Aubusson tapestries, modern and Art Deco rugs and tapestries
The craft of carpet making has existed in the East for thousands of years. A carpet can last a few hundred years if the materials used are of good quality. In the West, carpet factories have existed for hundreds of years, at first making replicas of oriental carpets, mainly Turkish and Persian, using the same methods and techniques. Later, patterns and designs were modified according to the designs and decorations of the places where they were made and the time period in which they were made.
In France, D'Aubusson tapestries have been produced since the 17th century. Carpets woven using the same techniquehave been made since the 18th century. In France also, the royal manufacture of Savonnerie made very large hand-knotted carpets for palaces and castles.
The value of an antique rug depends on the desirability of its design, its quality, its age, and its patterns. An orientalrug is a craft product which keeps its value. An antique carpet of a desirable pattern may indeed gain value as it ages. A relatively recent handmade carpet in good condition may be considered as “new” if it is clean.
On our website, we offer used antique oriental carpets as well as new and modern carpets. Most of the antique carpets we have for sale come from estate sales. Our knowledge, expertise and experience of the field allow us to evaluate the carpets for purchase and for resale.
We are continuously adding stock, allowing you to purchase carpets at prices significantly lower than current manufacturing costs as the cost of labor in the East increases day by day.
